Login to PWR Wallet with Google
Aug 20, 2025
Feature Announcement

Web3 wallets are evolving. At PWR Wallet, we believe that decentralization shouldn’t come at the cost of poor UX. That’s why we’re introducing a new login method that combines the best of both worlds: Login with Google, secured by client-side encryption and stored privately in your own Google Drive.
No servers. No middlemen. No compromise.
Why Login with Google?
Onboarding in Web3 has historically been… painful. You download a wallet, get hit with a 12-word seed phrase, and are told to guard it with your life.
That’s where we come in. With PWR Wallet’s new login flow:
You log in with Google
Create a wallet with one click
Choose a password to encrypt your wallet
Your secret phrase is shown immediately
Save your secret phrase somewhere safe
Your encrypted wallet is backed up to your own Google Drive
That’s it. You’re in.
All logic is 100% client-side — meaning your private keys never leave your device, and only you hold the password.

🔐 Under the Hood: How It Works
We’ve built this flow to be simple on the surface and rock-solid underneath:
Google Login
You authenticate using your Google account. We never see your email or access your inbox — just permission to store a file on your Drive.
Password Prompt
You create a password that will be used to encrypt your wallet. This password is never stored or transmitted.
Wallet Created + Secret Phrase Shown
Your wallet’s secret phrase (also called a seed phrase) is shown once — this is your master backup. You can choose to save it manually, or rely on your encrypted Google Drive backup. We strongly recommend storing it somewhere safe in case you ever lose access to both Google and your password.
Wallet Generation & Encryption
A new wallet (keypair) is generated locally on your device. It is then encrypted using AES-256 with a key derived from "PwrWallet" + password, passed through PBKDF2 for extra security.
Upload to Google Drive
The encrypted wallet file is saved to your Drive (e.g., pwr-wallet-xyz.json). No seed phrase ever leaves your device in plain text.
Recovery Made Simple — But Still Self-Custodial
Let’s say you switch devices or clear your browser:
Just log in again with the same Google account.
Enter your password.
We fetch the encrypted file and decrypt it locally.
Your wallet is back. Fully recovered, with no centralized storage or intervention.
📥 Already Have a Wallet? Import It to Google-Backed Access
Not starting from scratch? No problem.
If you already have a traditional wallet (from PWR or another app), you can easily import it into your Google-backed flow. This lets you benefit from the same encrypted backup and smooth recovery, without changing how you use your wallet.
Here’s how it works:
Log in with your Google account
Select “Import Wallet”
Paste or input your existing seed phrase
Set a password
Your wallet is now encrypted and backed up to Google Drive — just like a new one
Your wallet becomes part of the Google-login experience, with full self-custody preserved.
Whether you’re a new user or a seasoned one, you’re in control — and now with a safer backup system
Why You Can Trust This Flow
We designed this feature with decentralization and user control as top priorities:
Feature | Our Approach |
---|---|
🔒 Encryption | AES-256-GCM, all done in-browser |
🧠 Key Derivation | PBKDF2 with app-specific salt |
☁️ Storage | Your Google Drive (never our servers) |
👀 Visibility | We can’t see or decrypt your wallet |
🧬 Recovery | Google + your password, nothing else |
🧼 No backend custody | Google + your password, nothing else |
We don’t manage keys. We don’t store secrets. We don’t even want the ability to help you recover your wallet — because that would mean we could access it. We can’t. And that’s the point.
What If…
I forget my password?
Unfortunately, we can’t help. Your password is never saved or sent anywhere. You can, however, export your wallet after login as a backup.
I lose access to my Google account?
Treat it like your key vault. If you lose access, and don’t have another backup, recovery will be impossible
Ready to Try It?
If you’re new to crypto, this is for you.
Create or restore your wallet in 30 seconds using Login with Google. Just set a password and go.
